Pablo Ara

Pablo, our student of the week, considers himself a lazy person… he says he has trouble getting started. We doubt it a little bit because if he is applied… He studies his last year of mechanical engineering at the UPNA, with good grades, and also trains daily because he is a cyclist. The bike is his passion and was one of the reasons why he decided to leave his hometown (Jaca) to study in Pamplona. Here he had the opportunity to ride for Lizarte, a well-established cycling team, and he was also very interested in training in Navarra, because he loves the region. He likes its landscapes very much and also its climate, perhaps because he is used to living near the Pyrenees and likes nature and the cold. Cycling requires a lot of perseverance, enjoyment of solitude and discipline. Last year he trained 18,000 kms. (between 13 and 17 hours a week) and this year will reach 20,000 kms!!!!

He is a very focused and thoughtful person. You already know what you will do in the future, or at least you want to try! He will study a second career, Design and Mechanics, in Madrid, and will continue to delve into the world of aeronautics, which he has already entered as a hobby. He also does not rule out studying physiotherapy later on, because he likes the human body and believes it can be useful for the work he will develop. Definitely a lazy boy… Because his dream is to dedicate himself to designing customized bicycles, based on aerodynamic studies and the characteristics and needs of each person. In his experience, there is very little progress in this area and he believes it could be an interesting career opportunity. “What I like is to combine machines with people, to put engineering at the service of people.”

His passion for cycling runs in his family, as his two brothers also competed. They have been together for many years (8 and 11 years) and he remembers traveling with his parents to see them every weekend. Now they are the ones who have to follow him in the Euskadi Tournament or in the Vuelta a Castilla y León, for example.

He considers himself a temperate person, very occasionally he gets angry, but he soon gets over it. In the residence he is always polite, calm and kind to everyone, a model resident!!!!
