Our mentee of the week is Javier, a final year student of Industrial Engineering at UPNA and one of our Industrial Engineering Mentoring teachers! He is a very focused, level-headed and thoughtful student. He likes to think everything twice before acting! As a good engineer, he is a very organized person, tries to plan his work well and make the most of his time. He is also a very willing person, he likes to help those around him. That’s why his role as a mentor fits him like a glove!
He is very comfortable in the residence: “I’m very happy with the residence, that’s why I’ve stayed four years! You meet great people and they give you all the means to study. He has also adapted very well to the city: “Pamplona is very good for going out, everything is in the center. I love its parks, the Taconera or the Citadel, it has a lot of green area, it is a very nice city to walk around. Besides, it is close to my city (Calahorra). On the other hand, my father is from Obanos and we have always had that link with Navarra”.
The adaptation has been easy for him because he is delighted with the career he has chosen. At the beginning, I was not sure, I was hesitating between studying Physics or Engineering. He finally opted for engineering, because it can have more career opportunities and he is very attracted to electronics. He wants to go into systems control, robotics application, etc. “I’m really enjoying the race, it’s very entertaining. Of course, you have to invest a lot of hours and keep it up to date. If you don’t do it, you don’t know what you’re doing in the internships. For me, the key is to be constant and organized, and to be good at it!”
He has done very well, he choked on Fluid Engineering, but he also managed to get through it. He is now doing his internship at TRW, quite an “entrepreneur”! He considers himself a simple person, he likes going out with his friends, watching series or movies, some video games and, of course, sports. When he was younger he played soccer (he loves it!) and in the summer he plays tennis. At school we usually see him playing ping pong, but most of all we see him studying! Of course, always calm and with a smile.
