Our student of the week is Carlota. Study the Double Degree in Telecommunications and Biomedical Engineering at @upna. He chose the career partly by choice and partly by his parents: “I wanted to study biomedical engineering. And my parents preferred Telecommunications. I saw that the UPNA offered a double degree and I decided to go for it.
For the time being, the scales are tipping in his favor: he will focus on an area of the biomedical branch, such as the design and development of prostheses. Telecommunications are a complement. Although it must be recognized that cybersecurity has “its point”!
In his first year of his degree, he felt some pressure: “When you do two degrees at the same time, you have to pass 60 credits a year, and that’s a full course! In the end, if you take it seriously, you get it. And if you have help. In the resi we have made a very good engineering group, we are very close to each other”.
The support of her mentoring professors was vital: “I had 4 professors in residence. In college you have the tutoring, but the mentoring help is more practical. Some friends from class signed up for an academy, but my mentors told me that mentoring was enough. And it was! This year I volunteered to be a teacher, because I feel grateful”.
Initially I preferred to study in the USA. He is from Zaragoza and his family comes from Navarra, this weighed in the decision to choose Pamplona. And now, he is happy! “The friends I’ve made in the resi will be for life. Living together makes the relationship much closer.
In his spare time he likes to practice languages, he speaks English, French and German. She also loves sports, especially golf and rhythmic gymnastics. Last year he was very absorbed in his career and put his hobbies on hold. But this year he wants to take up German classes again.
He considers himself a very responsible person. She is also quite clear about what she wants to achieve and is willing to sacrifice. When she feels tired, she remembers her little sister, for whom she is her role model: “I think a lot before I act, I won’t let her down!”
