Laura Merino

A vocation is not always given to us, but is often forged; we discover it as we grow and get to know ourselves better. This is the case of Laura, our student of the week. She wanted to study Criminology, it was clear to her! Until she had a teacher in high school who awakened her interest in economics.

The interest turned into passion and since then, she has not hesitated! Well, she hesitated a bit, between ADE and Economics. She chose economics because it seemed to her a broader career with more possibilities for specialization. Although she is still in her first year, she already knows two things: that she has made the right choice in her career; and that when she finishes, she will do a Master’s degree focused on the stock market. It’s a world that attracts her a lot: “I enjoy it, it’s like a game”.

She also knows she was right to choose Pamplona. She wanted to study in Madrid. But at the last minute, she felt dizzy to leave for such a big city. Pamplona is very similar to “your Logroño” in terms of size. She also really liked the @upna curriculum. And she got it right! She is very comfortable, has adapted very easily to the city and to the residence, where she soon made her circle of friends.

She loves everything to do with economics, but it is not her only hobby. She is passionate about reading, any genre except Science Fiction, which she can’t stand! She also likes to watch and record videos of things that capture her attention. She has always played basketball, but has put it aside for her studies.

She wants to focus on her career. She is very responsible and also a perfectionist: “If I want something, I go for it and I do everything I can, even if it costs me”. But not in a crazy way! She likes to be prudent, to reflect before acting. She finds it hard to open up, she considers herself quite reserved, but when she gives her confidence, she is authentic and 100% committed!
