Today is December 3rd, Navarra Day, and we have chosen Irati, one of our favorite students from Navarra, as student of the week!!! Irati is the third student of a family saga that has opted for our residence! First came her cousins Nora and Uxúe, and now it’s her turn. Three lovely girls, and very different from each other!
She knew she wanted to go into healthcare. Because she has always been interested in the relationship between mental well-being and physical well-being. She was most attracted to the field of Nutrition, because it is very focused: “Nutrition is a habit, but it is also a way of life”.
The University of Navarra had a specialization in Sports Nutrition which, for her, is the other “indispensable leg” to balance the scales. And it was easy to choose the career: a degree in Nutrition with a major in Sports Nutrition. In the future, she does not rule out complementing it with Psychology.
She knows what she is talking about, because she has been a top athlete. Her sport (and her passion) is skiing, which she has practiced since she was a child. She spent four months in a high performance center in Jaca, and it was there where she realized that she could not combine it with a university career: “Dedicating yourself professionally to skiing requires a lot of traveling and I do not think it is compatible with studying at the university. You can’t devote yourself entirely to it and it would be a continuous frustration for me”. Now she practices it as a hobby, and also as a teacher, since she is a ski instructor.
She has no time to spare, because she likes to work hard at her studies and cultivate her hobbies. She loves the artistic field, especially drawing and painting with watercolors. She even considered studying Fine Arts: “My artistic hobby is for me, most of my acquaintances don’t know that. I decided to keep it as a hobby, for my enjoyment, not to be evaluated”.
She is a very focused and mature person. You can feel it fast! She has already lived abroad, in England and in Jaca, and is quite autonomous. She also considers herself very family oriented, she loves going back to Estella to be with her family whenever she can.
She feels very comfortable in Pamplona, because of the university environment and because she likes the city. And also in the residence! “You have the freedom to learn how to manage it. And you meet very varied profiles, colleagues who go out more than I do, others who are always in the study rooms. I love that diversity.
