Ana Jimena, our student of the week, wanted to combine her two vocations: Economics and teaching. And she decided to study Economics, with a Diploma in International Finance, and a Master’s Degree in Pedagogy. Her dream is to work in a foundation related to the world of children, such as Unicef.
Leaving Mexico was a difficult decision. She has family in Spain, but not too close, in Malaga and Seville! She chose Pamplona because of the reputation of the UNAV. “It is ranked third in Spain and twelfth in Europe. I’m delighted, I’ll do the whole race here.”
She had some doubts about the residency, because she came from a women’s college. She finally opted for Camplus, because she wanted to open up to other realities. She also liked its location, close to downtown and the universities, and its warmth: “I feel very happy here. I made friends early and the veterans were very supportive. I came to a new home, to have a new family. Being away from my parents, my friends at the residence are my unconditional friends. Sometimes they go home for the weekend, but they always make sure I don’t feel alone.
Living away from her family has made her mature quickly: “My father told me that it was going to be like when they took the back wheels off my bicycle, he was watching to make sure I didn’t fall off, but I had to move forward on my own. And just like that!”.
Her main hobby is teaching catechism. She is going to do it at St. Michael Parish: “I like to share my vocation. Faith is my center, it helps me to be who I am. In the residence I feel very respected. Talking about it with my friends in the nursing home has connected us a lot, because you share from the depths. I needed to communicate it, it is part of me. We come to learn and to show who we are from authenticity.
She considers herself shy, but she is not that shy. She is strong, responsible and courageous. Also sensitive and profound. If you don’t know it yet, don’t miss it!
